Connecting to External BI Tools

Ways to connect​

  1. Internally, Zipstack uses the Trino querying engine. Many BI and analytical tools provide direct connectors to Trino. In this case, can connect to Zipstack's Hypertables through the Trino connector

  2. JDBC connector. Many BI and analytics tools provide access to external data sources through a JDBC connector. When using the "Data Browser" in the platform, the JDBC connector string is shown on the right panel. You can copy and paste this string on the tool's connector setup. A typical JDBC string will look like this:

    jdbc:trino://engine-<customer-id>.<region>.zipstack.io:443/hypertables/default

  3. ODBC connector. Provided through 3rd party. Please reach out to us if you need a ODBC connector.

Security, always enforced​

All connections are authenticated and access control in enforced. Each connection has to provide auth credentials which are verified. We recommend creating a separate user with just enough access to use the data sources externally.
